Driving it is not illegal; A law enforcement officer may pass you if your mirrors are missing or broken. Code § 46.2-1082 specifies the requirements for vehicle rear-view mirrors. And as we said above, exterior mirrors are vulnerable. You could be involved in a small collision and get away unscathed. But because your exterior mirrors are so fragile, they can still be damaged. If the passenger side mirror of a vehicle has been broken or its window has been broken in such a way that it cannot be used, a driver can still legally drive the car without it. However, dangers can be difficult to detect, so it is not advisable to drive a car. The mirror laws that govern car mirrors vary from state to state. In most states, drivers must have at least two mirrors to see what`s behind them. After 1 January 1968, no motorcycle may be registered in that State unless it is equipped with a rear-view mirror as described in this section. A breach of the provisions of this Subsection shall not be considered negligence in itself or contributory negligence in itself in the context of a civil action.

This section shall not apply to the following vehicles: (a) Vehicles of special interest registered in accordance with roS 805.020 which were not equipped with rear-view mirrors at the time of their initial manufacture.
