At Los Angeles AFB, we strive to create an inclusive environment that encourages pilot development and training. The Air Force recognizes that the management of unaccompanied accommodation (UH) facilities is critical to a pilot`s development process. UH is a personal residence and we strive to provide a modern, functional, well-maintained and comfortable home as well as promote pride, professionalism and personal dignity. UH is provided for unaccompanied aircraft of ranks E-1 to E-3 and E-4 with less than 3 years of service. Each airman has his own room, furniture, linen and supplies for a comfortable life. (Room layout may vary by location) Unaccompanied Airmen of the E-4 Grade with more than 3 years of service or more will move into apartments in the local community. Please see Living in the Local Community for information and help with housing. The permanent UH campus of Los Angeles AFB consists of studios with bathrooms and kitchens. Units on the 1st and 2nd floor are available. Facilities include a living room with kitchen, bathroom, pool tables, TV, table football and darts. On-site facilities include a gym, movie room, laundry room, and basement storage room. For more information about restrictions at Los Angeles Air Force Base, see AFI 32-6005 and the dormitory residents` booklet.

During your orientation, the ADL or UH Management Office representative will inform you of all Air Force and Base policies. UH Management Office StaffThe UH Management Office is made up of professionals who can help you with all your housing needs. Staffs vary, but may be non-commissioned officers, senior non-commissioned officers, and some bases with civilian personnel. The assigned military officers are aviator dormitory leaders (ADLs). These members are highly motivated employees who are committed to providing residents with quality service. ADLs provide guidance and advice on UH life and advise you on success in the Air Force. Once you are informed of your assignment, contact your winning unit and request the assignment of a sponsor. Your sponsor is another member assigned to your unit who will help you with your move. The sponsor or winning entity must then contact the UH Management Office to inform them of your next arrival date and work to reserve a dormitory for you. Unit IntegrityIn most cases, you will be assigned a room in an area of the dormitory reserved for staff working in your unit.

This serves to promote camaraderie among the members of the squadron. If a room near other members of your unit is not available, you may be assigned a temporary room until a room is available with your unit. Before you travel, schedule a meeting with your sponsor or someone from your unit when you arrive at the winning facility. If you arrive on a weekday during normal business hours, let your sponsor accompany you to the UH management office. An ADL or civilian dorm manager will guide you through the check-in process in your room and perform an inspection and inventory of the move-in of assigned furniture and supplies. If you arrive on weekends or after hours, ask your sponsor to arrange to pick up your room key at the UH management office or purchase a guest room for you until you can meet with a DVA or dorm manager. If you receive your room key outside normal business hours, it is still mandatory to go to the UH management office for processing the day after the service. Please read the brochure “Dormitory Manager/Residence Residents”Responsibilities of residentsYou must keep your room and any shared living space clean and tidy. Cleaning products and equipment can be provided free of charge. You are also responsible for your room and the furniture provided. Occupants may be held liable for damage beyond normal wear and tear. Contact your ADL or UH Management Office representative if you have any questions about your responsibilities.

Inspection ProgramThe Facility Commander establishes a base-wide UH inspection program focused on health and safety. Squadron Commanders and First Unit Sergeants implement the inspection program and visit rooms to ensure that all residents of their squadron meet installation standards. Bay Orderly ProgramUH residents are responsible for helping to clean and maintain common areas and common facilities in their “home”. They are regularly described in detail to carry out extensive cleaning and minor maintenance work around the UH campus. The Airmen`s Dormitory Council is the forum where residents of a single dormitory or group of dormitories raise their concerns about their living environment with a panel of peers. The council`s goal is to set standards for all residents, present solutions to problem areas, establish positive recreational activities, and identify improvements to the facility and facility. Participating at your location is an opportunity to help shape your living environment and provides opportunities for personal growth and development in the areas of leadership and personal relationships.
